By in large this plan is about restructuring the way students make and see art. Relief is basically an addition or subtraction depending upon materials. Drawing and painting are predominately flat. In contrast 3D and 2D use different modes of thinking seeing and reading a piece. Space and focal have to be manipulated differently. Movement while using line etc… to move the eye must use a obtain a diiffernt form 3D vs 2D.We are using addition because we are building up and out, as opposed to carving in. The pieces should have some theme to them, a narrative if you will. They should also have a way of being presented (Presentation)

The basic means of construction is building from corrugated board and gluing pictures them as the picture plane expands into 3 dimensional space.

It seems from prior classes that the idea of looking through or into or even out of works well in order to obtain the special effects needed to fabricate a relief.

If a theme is generated this can also facilitate the ease of making the piece giving the student a narrative or an order of how things or when things are to be seen.
